Catholic liturgical music is serious, solemn, transcendent, but Catholic musicians are never more fun and inspiring than when they are talking about what they love most. This is what happens at sacred music events around the world: the social and intellectual are critically important elements. The musicians (and music enthusiasts) at the Chant Café, a project of the

We had a lovely Missa cantata in Mount Airy, NC. Our women's schola sang. Puer natus est and Viderunt omnes are Gregorian goldie oldies, and for good reason.
I like also what Pérotin did with the Viderunt omnes. When the Alleluia started, I said to myself, "I've heard that somewhere before". I didn't realized then that Messiaen used it in one of his organ meditations.

This version of the Puer natus est does not resemble the introi I am accustomed to. Is this old roman chant or simply an alternate gregorian melody?
JC, it is very similar to what appears today in the Roman Gradual with some differences here and there.
