Propers with hymn tunes

Do you know the hymn "Creator of the Stars at Night"? Try that tune with these words:

To you, O Lord, I lift my soul
I trust in You, save me from shame.
Let not my foes boast over me.
Protect the ones who trust your name.

And thus have you sung the entrance proper for the First Sunday of Advent. Add Psalms from the choir and you have something wonderful.

The following Sunday:

Let Zion's people see the Lord
Who comes to set the nations free.
The Lord will sound His glorious voice.
Your heart will hear Him joyfully.

You see where this is going, right? It's quite the revelation, isn't it? Any parish can do this. More of this is being discussed at the MusicaSacra forum, all led by Kathy Pluth, a hymn expert who believes that propers should have primacy at Mass. She has combined her two loves and come up with something truly innovative and wonderful. This is a fantastic way forward. I hope she produces the entire book!
