A New Dawn for St. Peter's Polyphony?

How magnificent that St. Peter's in Rome is now using the music of William Byrd. usually Rome has adhered mostly to the Roman repertoire. It represents a kind of thawing of sorts. Maybe people more familiar with the scene can tell us more.
